The show is centered on five
characters: Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Howard and Raj .
Sheldon: theoretical physicist with
a doctorate in Theory "M", or string theory, is the best friend,
roommate and work of Leonard. Sheldon is a striking character due to her
various moods, which can be considered symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome.
Leonard: the character is wiser and
more understand life outside of scientific circles, even if it does not help
much in your social life. Why live with Sheldon, he had to adapt to the strange
quirks and sometimes annoying friend.
Penny: is beautiful neighbor Sheldon
and Leonard. Coveted by all characters (except Sheldon), she had a few
encounters with Leonard in the second season, but were not successful. Dreams
of being an "actress / singer." Penny is quite skilled in social
graces, which contrasts well with the style of the nerds.
Howard: it is the only one of four
friends who do not have doctorates, because it has "only" master's
degree in engineering. He works in the field of space engineering and lives
with her mother, who only listens to the voice and always blaring. Womanizer,
and always giving sung, it is a real failure in relationships. In the middle of
the season he began a relationship with a friend of Penny called Bernadette,
married her at the end of the season on the eve of going to space. Bernadette has
a doctorate in biology, which leaves Howard even more inferior.
Bernadette: she began as a
recurring character from serious and since season 4 became part of the main
cast. She is originally a waitress and co-worker of Penny in the Cheesecake
Factory to pay for their graduate studies in microbiology. She manages to
maintain a near normal relationship with his mother. She looks like a frail
woman, except when angry and his voice and mannerisms are very similar to
Howard's mother.
Raj: is the best friend of Howard,
PhD in astrophysics and also works in the department of physics at Caltech.
Originating in India, Raj can not talk to women, unless they are under the
influence of any alcoholic beverage, specifically a drink called Grasshopper. Even drunk, his advances are often
deplorable.
Amy: in the last episode of the
third season, Howard and Raj Sheldon enroll in a program of internet dating,
which promised "The perfect match for anyone." Amy end up finding a
neuroscientist, who looks more like the female version of Sheldon. Sheldon and
Amy start a friendship, which is considered by all as a dating (Howard and Raj
dubbed them Shamy), a fact denied by Sheldon several times: "She is a
girl, who's my friend, but she is not my-please , forgive me for doing this-"girlfriend."
in Season 5 Amy manages to get Sheldon to recognize as his girlfriend, even
without any physical contact between them, despite the advances of Amy.
Why did you
choose this theme?
We chose The Big
Bang Theory because is a series in which we identify. It's a lot different from
the others and that draws our attention because it portrays the life nerds.
What other series portrays life nerds? Only TBBT to do just that!
Andressa Magalhães(03) and Giovanna Victoria(15)
