BIOGRAPHY AND MAIN WORK

James Cameron Francis
Bacon was born on August 16, 1954 in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada. In 1971,
his family moved to California, and while studying Physics and English, young
James spent hours in the film archives of the University of Southern
California, where he read many works on special effects and photography.
He was director of special effects film Piranha 2, 1981, but when the
director left the project, the producers decided to put James in charge. During
filming, he had a nightmare about a robot from the future to kill him. This
idea would change his life.
After finishing the screenplay for The Terminator, in which he
worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger,
Cameron found a problem, get a studio to agree to put it as the director of the
film (since he was still a beginner). The film cost $ 6.5 million to produce, but
eventually profiting more than $ 70 million worldwide.
With success, Cameron took over the sequence of the
movie Alien, Ridley Scott. The
team did not believe in the potential of the new director, but the idea of
putting acting Sigourney Weaver as
Ellen Ripley, and feminine style of a strong character raised a great
controversy, but the film was a success.
Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger joined again in True Lies (1994), but it was his
next film that James made history.
With an adventurous spirit, the director decided
to dive into the four thousand meters of ocean that ensure the wreck of the Titanic, the most famous ship in
history. There he filmed the wrecked ship and that'' ride'' the submarine
turned gateway to the past luxury liner. Despite the various models and
computer effects, Cameron built an almost identical replica of the ship, with
details that consumed the production budget, cost approximately 200 million
dollars while creating the most faithful cinematic representation of the ship
and its history. The effort paid, and Titanic turned pop phenomenon.
On December 18, 2009, Avatar had its world premiere. A
new most expensive film in the history of the director, with a cost of
approximately 237 million U.S. dollars and another story that charmed the
world, thanks to technology show imagined by Cameron.
Development of Avatar began working for James
Cameron in 1994, having written a draft of a script, with about 80 pages, this
being his first film after Titanic. Filming should have started soon after this
film and Avatar would be released on 1999 but, according to Cameron The
Necessary technology to produce the film from his vision was not available
