Ranger's A pprentice
It is a series
written by the australian John Flanagan. Originally, John wrote Rangers to encourage his son,
Michael, to read. Will, the main character of the book, is based on Michael.
The boy was a child and all your friends were larger and stronger than him, as
well as Will at the beginning of the story. John wanted to show his son that,
to be a hero, you don't need strength or size, only courage and skill. The
result was a medieval series engaging, consisting of 10 books:
Ranger's Apprentice - Ruins of Gorlan
Ranger's Apprentice – The Burning Bridge
Ranger's Apprentice – The Icebound Land
Ranger's Apprentice – Oakleaf Bearers
Ranger's Apprentice – The Sorcerer of the North
Ranger's Apprentice – The Siege of Macindaw
Ranger's Apprentice – Erak's Ransom
Ranger's Apprentice – The Kings of Clonmel
Ranger's Apprentice – Halt's Peril
Ranger's Apprentice – The Emperor of Nihon-Ja

Rangers
tells the story of a boy named Will, who is orphaned. He lived in the Kingdom
of Araluen and dreamed of being a brave and strong warrior as he imagined that
his father had been. Will never know his father, but he was sure that he was as
well. Will lived, along with other orphans, in Castle Redmont, where they were
protected from Baron Arald until they completed 15 years when they would come '
the day of choice '. This was the day that Will and his friends, Horace, Alyss,
Jenny and George auditioned to become apprentices in various trades of their
respective masters. However, Will was unable to go to the School of War, which he dreamed of going.
And
it was on that day that Will's life had changed. He met Halt, the Archer of the
Kingdom of Araluen, known for his great talent. People imagined Halt as a scary
man and sorcerer, so that their deeds were unbelievable. Halt invited Will
become his apprentice archer, and he, at first for lack of choice, accepted.
But
he barely knew that this choice would change his life forever.
With Halt, Will learned how to handle the bow, knives, and learned the
techniques of the archers. He won a horse named Tug and departed, along with
his new master, for many adventures.
In
the first book, Will be accompanied by Halt and Gilan, the former apprentice of
Halt, on a mission which is to arrest the criminals and prevent the
assassination of the King of Araluen. With your skills, Will manages to save
the King and the Baron. And so wins the Bronze Oak Leaf, the medal that proves
that now he is officially an apprentice archer.
In other books, Will, Halt, and the sometimes, Horace, followed adventures to end the evil that existed in the Kingdom of Araluen, and even in other kingdoms. One of the villains that Will and Halt won was Morgarath.
Morgarath was the Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, whom for 15 years, gathered an army to destroy the Araluen. Will, Horace and Gilan faced and won Morgarath in the second book.
Next
to Halt, Will remain for many years, until it became a real Archer in
Corporation of the archers. And even after that, it continues alongside his old
mentor. Halt and Will have created a relationship of affection such that Will
was like the son that Halt never had, and Halt was the father that Will also
did not have.
The
tenth and final book in the series has now been released, however, there is
evidence that there will still be more books and news about the series. John,
at the request of fans, wrote a book that fills spaces of history and things that
have been forgotten in the books.
Rumors
indicate that a film about Rangers is being created, with the title of Ranger's
Apprentice - The Movie. The film was scheduled for 2011, but it is believed
that, by problems in the financing of the film, its release was postponed. Paul
Haggis, Oscar-winning writer-director is responsible for the movie and he is
still committed to it.
Deborah and I decided to make our Fandom of Rangers because this is a series that
we both like very much, and that is not as popular as Harry Potter, Percy
Jackson, The Lord of the Rings, Narnia or The Hunger Games, at least, here in
Brazil. So, we decided to make this work so that more people know the series
and maybe becoming interested, reading and falling like happened to us.
